Talking to a therapist is one of the best things you can do to prepare for the new life ahead....even then it's a bit startling and overwhelming...
I believe that most ins. companies require a psych eval before approval...I know mine was really an eye opener...prepared me for some of the other facets to "change" I had never prepared myself for. My therapist and surgeon made it clear that with WLS, there is no "set path"...they can prepare you for the "what-ifs" and "maybes"...but everyone has very different experiences...
Having found OH, you'll get great advise for every bump you hit along the way...
good luck to you!

I agree with the above poster - the way to deal with the changes is to give yourself the tools in order to be able to deal with them. Therapy is always a good choice... or groups that deal with overeating/food addiction.. picking up self help books etc. You really have to work on the mental aspects in order to really stay successful at this surgery.
